What characterizes today’s portrait? The portrait is one of the most classic and well known genres in the history of art. The artistic representation of a human being, which is usually limited to the head and chest area, seems more exciting today than ever with the variety of technical and artistic possibilities. But what is it that fascinates us so much about the image of a human being? We want to get closer to what contemporary portraiture is all about!

The exhibition „The New Portrait“ unites extraordinary contemporary artists who each proclaim their specific approach and aesthetic vision. From abstract positions to the figurative, from the colorful to the minimalist, størpunkt displays a wide variety of international artistic positions in order to – through their compilation – give the portrait of today a face.

Was zeichnet das Porträt von heute aus? Das Porträt ist eines der wohl klassischsten Genres der Kunstgeschichte. Die künstlerische Darstellung eines Menschen, die sich zumeist auf den Kopf- und Brustbereich beschränkt, scheint heute mit der Vielfalt an technischen und medialen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten spannender denn je. Doch was ist es, das uns so sehr am Abbild eines Menschen fasziniert? Wir wollen uns dem annähern, was das zeitgenössische Porträt ausmacht!

Die Ausstellung „The New Portrait“ vereint außergewöhnliche zeitgenössische Künstler, die jeweils ihre spezifische Herangehensweise und Ästhetik proklamieren. Von abstrakten Positionen zum Figurativen, vom Bunten bis hin zum Minimalistischen, inkludiert størpunkt eine breite Vielfalt internationaler künstlerischer Positionen, um in ihrer Zusammenstellung dem Portrait von heute ein Gesicht zu geben.
